Iran's Victory in Lebanon

Ayman Safadi, The National Abu Dhabi | May 16, 2008

The conflict in Lebanon is part of the larger regional struggle between Arabs and Iran over influence in the region. ++ Hizbollah military action shows that there is a new game in town. ++ While Iran armed, financed and supported Hizbollah, the Arabs limited their support to the legitimate Lebanon government. ++ In fact, Arab league has failed to have any impact on any major development in the Arab world. The Arabs have acted too late and without coordination to stem the growing influence of Hizbollah and Iran.

I like this comment! What's this?
While Palestine burns under Israeli ocupation, normalcy can't prevail despite the US' backing of the Jewish state for known reasons.
Hezbollah' latest drama appears to have been an exercise in power-politics in Lebanon which remains on tenterhooks because of Israeli designs which are underwritten by George W.
Slogans of a 2-state solution piped every now and then in Washington etc do not mean much while every day the Israeli air-power lobbs missiles, sends tanks to open fire on very poorly-armed Palestinian gunmen. While this goes on, land-grabbing by the Israeli jews goes on in abig way in the West Bank.
To add some more complication, a power-struggle is being projected to be building up between the Arabs and Iran. Neither of the two is strong enough to induce the US to order Israel to work seriously on a 2-state
solution. Hence the poor Palestinian are dying like the ants while some stnd up in defiance and get martyred by Israeli air-force/ tanks. As things are, the weak will keep dying, thanks to the complicity of the powerful but, as a matter of principle, occupation must be defied even without having credible arms.
