First Green European Summer University

What kind of Europe do we need? What kind of Europe do we want for the 21st century? How can we fight climate change? How to deal with the economic and social consequences of globalisation? How best to strengthen our open, democratic and pluralistic society?

From 28 to 31 August 2008, the Greens/EFA Group in the European Parliament in cooperation with the European Green Party as well as the German and Polish Green parties, Bündnis 90/die Grünen and Zieloni 2004 will hold the first “Green European Summer University” at the German Polish border in Frankfurt/Oder and Słubice.

Greens and non-Greens, NGOs, scientists, managers and trade unionists, intellectuals and artists, students and other young people are invited to gather for a stimulating debate on the future of Europe.

During large plenary debates and small working groups, participants from all over Europe will critically discuss visions, concepts and policies for a sustainable Europe. Cultural events, excursions and music events form also part of the Summer University.

Themed “Bridging the gaps”, the Green European Summer Universitywants to build intellectual, cultural and societal bridges, not only between East and West, but also between North and South and old and young.

Join our Summer University and shape Europe together!
