Internship sought in Transatlantic/NATO context
Dear Sir/Madame,
My name is Yasser Abumuailek, currently a student of Politics and Society at the University of Bonn, Germany (completing a BA degree) in my third semester. At the moment I’m looking for internship opportunities in my areas of interest, namely transatlantic relationships, NATO’s new challenges and conflict/terrorism in the Greater Middle East region.
I’m Palestinian, and spent most of my life in the Gaza Strip, which remains until today a hotbed for the inter-Palestinian as well as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I worked there as a journalist, translator and fixer for almost six years, during which I had the unique chance of observing the conflict through many objective eyes, such as reporters of CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera and other European and US newspapers and TV networks, as well as foreign diplomats, security consultants, UN and NGO workers.
As part of my work, as well, I interviewed key stakeholders in the conflict on both sides, such as Israeli army officers, the (current) Palestinian President and several political and military leaders of Hamas movement.
At the moment and during my stay in Germany I became very interested and highly involved in issues related to NATO activities and initiatives in the Greater Middle East region, as well as possible NATO cooperation/activity in the Asia-Pacific region, especially relating to Japan and surrounding countries. added to that are general security/defence affairs and their planning on national and international levels.
Added to my practical experience and academic qualifications, I speak fluent Arabic, English, Hebrew, German along with basic French. I’m currently learning Japanese and increasing my proficiency of French to a working level.
Based on the abovementioned short summary of my skills and experiences, it would be a great opportunity for me to become an intern at organisations interested in transatlantic relations or NATO, so as to expand my horizons and to contribute as much as possible to the different projects or initiatives of this organisation.
For further future enquiries and questions please don’t hesitate to contact me through Email or directly on my cellular phone: +49 (0) 176 630 98 649.
Respectfully,
Yasser Abumuailek
