Policy Advisor for Greenpeace Political and Business Unit
Greenpeace International's Political and
Business Unit is seeking a senior Policy Advisor with a campaigning background
specialising in climate issues. This is a once in a decade opportunity to be
part of a team to secure a strong global agreement to tackle climate change in
Copenhagen in 2009, and ensure its implementation thereafter. With almost two
decades of experience on climate change, working at the highest levels,
Greenpeace plays a key role in securing the global solutions to climate change.
We are looking for an exceptional individual with a clear knowledge of the
UNFCCC to join and help lead our political team in Amsterdam.
Skills required:
- Advanced academic qualification in international political or business sciences or law, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of five years proven expertise and knowledge in high level political negotiations
- Minimum of five years proven expertise in policy development
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate delegations at external meetings
- Proven ability to effectively adjust plans to rapidly changing circumstances, and to operate under pressure
- Excellent communication skills, including strong writing skills and proven ability to present in all forms of media
- Fluent in written and spoken English and preferably one other modern language
- Experience of cross-cultural working environment - "an internationalist"
- Demonstrable commitment to environmental/peace issues
