Program Associate at the Brussels Office of The German Marshall Fund
The Brussels Office of The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) is looking
for a highly-motivated, experienced Program Associate to join its
Brussels office team. This position specifically works on GMF's
flagship annual event - the Brussels Forum. The main
tasks associated with this position involve the organization and
implementation of this major event, and include working on the agenda
of the conference, coordinating thematic and operational input of the
different GMF offices and programs, handling speakers and contacts with
embassies and institutions, logistics, scheduling, travel arrangements,
and assisting with associated fundraising. GMF

RESPONSIBILITIES:
This
position offers an opportunity to gain understanding and experience in
the foundation and public policy world in Europe and the United
States. The responsibilities of the position include:
- Working closely with the Director of the Brussels Office, the Brussels Forum project leader as well as the Brussels Forum team, on all aspects of implementing this annual event.
- Keeping the agenda of the event updated and liaising with GMF staff and speakers/moderators concerning all questions related to the agenda.
- Assisting in identifying and pursuing potential speakers for the conference.
- Representing the Brussels Forum project and GMF in an effective, professional way to the outside community such as embassies, partners, and vendors.
- Assisting in the production process of the event with regard to creation of the event site, staffing, accommodation, catering and transportation.
- Ensuring intensive linkages and communication between the Brussels Forum team and the other GMF offices and programs.
DESIRED SKILLS AND BACKGROUND:
- ability to work independently and multi-task; excellent organizational and administrative skills; strong problem solving skills
- outgoing personality, enjoy working as part of an international team
- professional appearance
- excellent written and spoken communication skills, fluency in written and spoken English. French and/or another European language is a plus
- experience in event management is highly desirable
- familiarity with European Union institutions and NATO and strong interest in U.S.-European issues is an asset
- good research skills
