Spring 2010 Research Internship at the Streit Council
The Streit Council is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit incorporated organization working toward closer cooperation among the experienced democracies as a basis for more effective U.S. engagement in world affairs.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating potential research opportunities with staff
- Compiling and analyzing the organization’s founding documents and compiling a thorough write-up of its history
- Engaging in research involving source materials, current periodicals, books, and scholarly articles on the subject of transatlantic relations
- Attending relevant events and forums on transatlantic relations and composing reviews and responses
- Editing
- Organizing workshops, conferences, seminars
- General administrative tasks
- Aiding in grant research and writing
- Maintaining and updating various online social networking tools
- Maintaining and updating the Streit Council’s website
Qualifications:
- Background in International Affairs, History, Political science, or Communications possibly with a concentration in Transatlantic Relations or European Studies
- Good academic standing (at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale)
- Experience in researching issues pertaining to transatlantic relations is preferred
- Superior editing and written skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a group setting
- Excellent command of Microsoft Office Suite is required
- Familiarity with Microsoft Publisher (or other layout and design software) and Photoshop
- Experience with grant research and writing is helpful
- Experience in grassroots organizing and event planning is a great asset
- Knowledge of web-based technology (CMS, some Dreamweaver and HTML) is helpful, Microsoft Publisher (or other layout and design software) and Photoshop a plus
