2nd Conference on the Political Economy of International Organizations


We invite submissions for the second conference on the political economy of international organizations, which will be held in Geneva, Switzerland on January 29-31, 2009. The conference will bring together economists and political scientists working on political aspects of international governmental and non- governmental organizations. The first conference was held early in 2008 at Monte Verita (http://www.cis.ethz.ch/events/pastevents/PEIO/Program); the third one is scheduled to take place in 2010 in Washington, D.C., organized by James Vreeland (Yale University).

Keynote Speakers:
The program of the conference will include three keynote speakers: Helen V. Milner (Princeton University), Graham Bird (University of Surrey), and Richard Baldwin (Graduate Institute of International Studies).

Submission of Papers:

Both empirical and theoretical papers will be considered. Please submit full papers to PEIO@kof.ethz.ch. The deadline for submission is September 30, 2008. Final decisions will be made by October 31, 2008.

The conference proceedings will be published in a special issue of the Review of International Organizations (Springer), subject to the usual refereeing process. Submission to the special issue is not mandatory.

Registration and Accommodation

Speakers are expected to cover their own expenses. Partial refunding of travel expenses (flight and accommodation) for participants from developing countries can be considered on request following acceptance of the paper. There will be no registration fee.
