GCC Labour Markets and Industrial Relations
The Gulf Research Center (GRC) welcomes scholarly contributions to its publications program. The following is a formal call for papers issued by the GRC.
In the wake of WTO negotiations and labour unrest in the construction sector of some Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) countries, labour relations in the GCC countries are gaining increased attention. The paper should investigate the labour laws and the industrial relations of GCC countries and compare them with international standards as laid down by the ILO. Comparisons should also extend to the situation in other countries on the international stage such as EU member states, the US, and selected emerging markets like China, Brazil, and India. The right to form trade unions and collective bargainng procedures should be discussed in detail.
