Bush Slowly Fades, as New Presidency Nears
William Drozdiak, American Council on Germany | June 12, 2008
On both sides of the Atlantic, politicians are certain that a new US President will mean big change on a broad range of issues, from climate change to Iraq. ++ In gearing up for a more "enlightened" era of transatlantic relations, governments and media have given little attention to Bush's remaining days in office. ++ Although public opinion in Europe clearly reveals an Obama preference, Berlin, Paris and London are divided over the candidates' approaches to non-proliferation and Moscow. ++ Regardless of the outcome, the outlook is optimistic.
