US Supreme Court Slams Guantanamo
Eugene Robinson, Washington Post | June 13, 2008
On Thursday, the US Supreme Court ruled that detainees held at Guantanamo Bay have the right to challenge their detentions in a federal court. ++ This marks the third time the court has made clear that the president has no authority to trash the fundamental principles of American jurisprudence. ++ Since the decision was constitutionally based, it will end Bush’s policy of arbitrary arrest, indefinite detention, and torture. ++ The Guantanamo decision will create a series of further cases for the federal courts.
